Despite of all the ultimate driving experience and enhanced features offered by the X5, there are some flaws found as mentioned by some reviewers. The first is regarding to its expensive price. It can cost starting from USD$48,000 per unit and this is quite pricy compared to other cars within the same. The next one is regarding to the fuel economy rating, which is only 15/21 mpg only. This specification is considered as merely average, while the others might have the higher ratings. Besides that, even though the iDrive interior control is awesome, some people might find it too complicated and not too practical to use. One suggestion here is that, if you do not need this updated iDrive interior too much, then it is better if you refer to the 2009 version. Your might get a good offer here because the dealer might need to sell the left over stocks immediately so that they can replace it with the new 2010 BMW X5.
Consumer Guide reviewed that the performance of the X5 is stunning in term of sporty handling and its iDrive control system is considered better than the previous models. Besides that, the availability of the third row seat is great since it can accommodate the whole family. However, the navigation system in the 2010 BMW X5 can be very confusing for most people. Further, its pricy price, particularly for the V8 edition, can be a holding back factor for the buyer. Consumer guide assumed that for overall view, the diesel-powered xDrive35D is considered better in the class. Even though this model is more expensive around USD$4,000 than the base model of the X5, but its EPA rating is higher with the 19/26 mpg rating. Most other cars in the class do not reach this rating, except the Lexus RX450h Hybrid.
If you are not a loyal fan of BMW brand, there are some other excellent options available to consider. The first one will be the Acura MDX that costs USD$5,000 less than the 2010 BMW X5. The Acura provides 3 row seats and also excellent smooth handling system. Another option is Lexus RX 350. This model is offered at a very reasonable price and is considered as the least expensive among the SUV midsize cars. Besides its very reasonable price, it is also energy-efficient so that you can save up your gas. The engine is powerful that it can generate up to EPA 18/25 mpg rating. Even though the RX 350 does not provide the third row seat, it has an innate cabin control system that you will never find in either BMW or Acura.
